Power to the People

Limegreen Events, with its impressive client
list including BBC Proms in the Park, Escape into the Park, Truck
Festival and Red Bull Air Race, is at the forefront of the outdoor
and special events industry. With its many years of experience
providing complete, state-of-the-art production and event
management services, including temporary power and electrical
distribution, lighting and sound, it can service small intimate
gatherings right through to week long music festivals.
Limegreen Events is a company poised to deliver the
infrastructure for an extensive variety of events using the latest
techniques and facilities. Limegreen is continuously expanding its
portfolio in other areas of the entertainment industry such as
sporting events; International Bowls Championships, corporate
events, Lord Mayor’s Gala and more recently eco friendly projects
such as the Ciao Festival.
‘There has been a massive growth in the events sector in the
last few years, despite the recession,’ says Ian Evans,
founder of Limegreen Events (formerly known as RWCMD Enterprises)
and senior lecturer in technical studies at the Royal Welsh College
of Music & Drama.
Drawing on the expertise of its parent institution, the Royal
Welsh College, Limegreen Events also provides unique training
opportunities through work placements for its Stage Management and
Technical Theatre students, producing fully-trained, knowledgeable,
expert staff who can hold their own in the tough and competitive
world of the events industry.
Ian Peniston is one such student who benefited from the
scheme:
‘I am now a Freelance Technician to the
entertainment industry and as a professional I continue to work for
Limegreen and other companies on projects throughout the UK. It is
good to see that Limegreen are continuing to employ students from
the college to work as crew members on their events, giving me the
opportunity to share my real life experiences and pass on my
developed skills.’
Whether it be installing the power infrastructure to a live
music festival or setting up a small lighting rig for a product
launch the students act with true professionalism, working hard to
complete the job and undertaking their roles to the highest of
standards.
Martyn Rourke, Lighting Director for BBC Proms in
the Park Swansea believes the company is not only unique in its
service but also in the opportunities it creates for others,
‘Over the years, it has been a pleasure to work with Limegreen
Events, knowing that each member of their team is highly skilled
and trained in their area of expertise. The training professionals
from the RWCMD who are often employed as general crew alongside
Limegreen’s team of industry professionals are given the
opportunity to put method into practice and gain valuable
experience within the events industry – a great training model for
the next generation of event technicians and managers.’
The Limegreen Events team takes pride in their personal approach
to customer service. Focusing on building a real relationship with
their clients through careful and strategic planning prior to each
event, and by understanding the technical demands of each different
site and its infrastructure, they design individual event support
and management that will be efficient, reliable and cost-effective.
Alison John, Business Development Manager elaborates, ‘We keep
our core team lean to give the customer the best possible cost, but
we have an extensive network of professionals that we call on to
create bespoke and unique responses to their needs.’
Production Manager Alex Cameron, who graduated
from the College with a BA (Hons) in Stage Management and Technical
Theatre, adds, ‘We are very well placed to take advantage of a
growing number of opportunities in exhibitions, corporate events,
press and product launches as well as festivals and other outdoor
and sporting events. Our ambition is to become the first
choice for all events originating in Wales and to become a major
supplier of these services nationwide.’
