Only Men Aloud Join 60th Birthday Open House

A year’s worth of celebrations culminated in an Open House day at the College on October 31, with an opportunity to go behind the scenes at Wales’ National Conservatoire and Drama School.

Stage combat demonstration

The day featured a range of activities including backstage, college and hard hat tours, music recitals, playback of radio dramas, stage combat demonstrations and acting masterclasses.

Paper sculpture exhibit

There were also opportunities to wonder at giant paper sculptures, enjoy performances from favourite musicals or take part in a studio recording session. The musically motivated had the chance to play a Steinway Grand piano, a brass instrument or bang some drums, while those looking to glam up could try on some of our amazing collection of costumes. Interactive workshops allowed guests to create their own composition and there was a special Department Six exhibition of original art from the Doctor Who series.

Only Men Aloud invited the public to watch them at work as they prepared for their upcoming national tour.

The choir - many of whom are past and present RWCMD students - rehearsed at the College and then gave a special performance of Happy Birthday to celebrate the College’s 60th birthday as part of the Open House celebrations.
