Stainer & Bell Award for Brass Composition 2010

James Flight with Stainer and Bell's Nicholas Watkins

Music publishers Stainer & Bell have sponsored a new competition with the College to award an original brass composition by a current music student. The two winners will have their compositions published.

James Flight won First Prize for his Short Sonata for Euphonium, and Second Prize went to Benjamin Vaughan for Ar y Mynydd Hyfrd Cymraeg for solo cornet. James also won a cash prize.

Stainer and Bell will sponsor the competition again next year, when they will be looking for new compositions for a brass quintet.
