National Eisteddfod of Wales 2008
Despite the torrential rain, the Royal Welsh College of Music
& Drama has had another successful year at the National
Eisteddfod which took place this year in Cardiff. The Royal Welsh
College were proud to be sponsoring the National Eisteddfod for the
third year running, and contributing to the cultural identity of
Wales.
The College stand, designed by one a recent
graduate and showcasing the work of Theatre Design Students and
other courses, was manned by staff and students happy to chat to
visitors and prospective students about the opportunities available
at the College.
The College ran three workshops each day,
‘Musical Twister,’ ‘Music for the Body,’ and ‘African Drumming’ for
visitors to the Maes to participate in. Students performed during
the week on a stage within the Maes and at the College stand.
Many past and current Royal Welsh College
students were involved in some of the many competitions within the
Pavilion during the Eisteddfod. They fought off strong competition
from students from other conservatoires and Colleges from the UK
and beyond to bring home a huge array of prizes.
Llio Evans, who won the Blue Riband last year,
was inducted into the Gorsedd, alongside Hollywood Actor, Matthew
Rhys.
