Two of the college’s most successful recent
graduates are back in Wales to star in a new film alongside
Hollywood actress Minnie Driver.
Former classmates Aneurin Barnard and
Kimberley Nixon, who both studied
Acting, are in Swansea shooting the 1970s
musical comedy Hunky Dory.
Since graduating in 2007, both Aneurin and Kimberly have
becoming rising stars on the stage and screen.
Earlier this year, Aneurin won Best Actor in a Musical at the
prestigious Olivier Awards for his performance in Spring
Awakening in the West End. He has just finished filming
Iron Clad, alongside Paul Giamatti and Derek Jacobi.
Kimberley is no stranger to the big screen either – she has five
other feature film roles to her name, including Wild
Child, Easy Virtue and Cherrybomb.
Current Acting students Dafydd-Llyr Thomas and Tomos Harries
also feature in Hunky Dory, which is expected to be
released in Spring 2011.
The Working Title film tells the story of a comprehensive school
drama teacher putting on an end of year show with a difference – a
rock opera version of The Tempest using the students’
favourite pop songs.
