College Quintet on BBC Wales
RWCMD Brass Quintet, Perfect Fifth have performed in
the BBC Wales documentary, ‘Tonypandy Riots – A New History’. The
programme revisits the events of 1910 when protests over pay
descended into chaos as miners looted shops and smashed windows in
Tonypandy, resulting in hundreds of injuries and one death.
The programme covers the riots from different angles: Perfect
Fifth feature alongside the music hall singer, played by
Sophie Evans, singing All the Nice Girls love a
Striker.
Made up of second year RWCMD students, Perfect Fifth entered and
won their first competition in May – winning the prestigious Philip
Jones Brass Ensemble Competition.
The documentary will be repeated on Tuesday 9th November at
7.00pm on BBC 2 Wales.
