Study Area Leader:
John Mills ARCM FCLCM Hon ARAM
John Mills is one of the UK's most established and experienced
classical guitarists, being a former student of Andres Segovia,
John Williams and Julian Bream, and having given around 3000
concerts and recitals worldwide. His wide-ranging repertoire takes
in all periods from the 16th century to the present day, with his
specialist area being the Segovia repertoire of the early to
mid-20th century, featuring composers such as Moreno
Torroba,Turina,Tansman. He has devoted much time to promoting new
works, not only solo, but also chamber music (for which he has a
great passion) working with composers such as Patrick Gowers, Paul
Lewis, Mervyn Burtch, Kai Nieminen and Hayley Savage. As well as
touring, John is also frequently invited to give masterclasses and
is the author of a best-selling Method for the instrument.
