A Stage for Success
A message from our Campaign Patron,
Bryn Terfel, CBE
The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama has a pedigree which
stretches back sixty years, during which time it has seen some of
the UK and Wales’ finest performing artists pass through its
doors.
The training provided by the 400 visiting and
resident professional staff is superb, and now we are on the brink
of realising a long-held ambition to provide facilities to match.
By 2011 we will have transformed the College’s historic site so
that the next generation of artists can train with established
artists in world class facilities.
These are state-of-the-art facilities that I could only have
dreamed of when I entered the profession. They will beckon talented
young people from around the world to study in Wales. When these
emerging artists step into the professional world they can be
confident that they have been prepared to the highest level.
Over the last decade Cardiff has been transformed and has a new
sense of purpose. These stunning facilities will create a new
gateway to Wales’ capital city, and will perfectly complement the
great performing venues we already have in Wales Millennium Centre
and St David’s Hall.
Over 90% of the £22.5m funding is already in place. As we look
to raise the balance, there are ways for you to support at every
level. I am thrilled to be Campaign Patron for a project that will
be the envy of conservatoires and drama schools throughout the
world, and I urge you to join me in helping to make this fantastic
vision a reality.
Thank you.
