Eva Stewart
Eva was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, but grew
up in the Midlands. After studying with Andrew Lane from the CBSO,
she went on to the Guildhall in London. Her Professors there were
Averil Williams & Phillipa Davies.
Eva won the woodwind prize at the 1991 Yamaha
Music Federation of Europe Competition, and the Tunbridge Wells
International Competition in the same year. She graduated with
Honours & won the Lord Mayor’s Prize.
Joining the Northern Sinfonia in 1993, Eva
enjoyed a great variety of music- making there for nearly ten
years. Alongside the orchestral work were solo and chamber
music, and recitals. During this time, Eva discovered her
flair for community music making, teaching & workshops. This
lead to the completion of an MA in Music Education in 2000.
In 2002, Eva joined the BBC National
Orchestra of Wales where, in addition to orchestral playing, she
particularly enjoys collaborating with other artists such as
singers, dancers and storytellers.
Away from music Eva has discovered the bliss
experienced through meditation, and can often be found sitting
cross-legged, eyes closed in a quiet corner!
