Martin Bowen
Martin was born in Neath and educated at Neath
Boys Grammer School where his interest in the Bassoon started. He
went on to study at the Royal Academy of Music with Gwydion Brooke
and Ronald Waller where he won the coveted Florence Woodbridge
Bassoon prize.
On leaving the RAM he went on to a very busy
freelance career performing with all the major Symphony and Opera
Orchestras in the capital and provinces before accepting a position
with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales in 1982.
Martin has had a considerable amount of
professional experience and has performed concertos and recitals
including TV and radio broadcasts both in this country and abroad.
He is also Bassoon Professor at Atlantic College.
