Lara James
Lara James studied at the Royal Northern
College of Music gaining her degree and professional performance
diploma, and the Manhattan School of Music where she became
graduate assistant to Dr Paul Cohen. Following her study in the USA
Lara completed her Masters degree in musicology at the University
of Manchester.
Lara is an established musician with a busy
and varied portfolio career ranging from recital, chamber,
orchestral and band performances to lecturing and has performed
across a variety of musical genres on saxophones and clarinet,
appearing with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC National
Orchestra of Wales and Opera North among many others.
Lara's first solo CD was released in
March 2009 and was selected as 'Presenter's Choice' for
Instrumental and Chamber Music by Classic FM Magazine, May
2009.
Solo performances have been broadcast on BBC
Radio 3, Classic FM, RTE Lyric FM and radio stations abroad
including NPR in the USA and ABC Classic FM, Australia.
