Alma Sheahan

Alma Sheehan trained at the Royal College of
Music and then at the RCM Opera School. After studying at the
National Opera Studio she sang roles with English National Opera
and the Royal Opera and at major London concert halls. She has run
workshops at the Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music,
Royal Northern College of Music and has worked with young artists
at the National Opera Studio and Royal Opera House. Alma also
works with conductors and instrumentalists and has also directed
productions. She has assisted on productions for Streetwise
Opera and the London Handel Festival.
Teaching from a singers’ perspective, Alma develops stagecraft and
characterisation by encouraging singers to go beyond self-imposed
limitations and take creative risks. She believes that allowing
mind and body to work together is the first step towards confident
stagecraft, which supports and complements vocal skills.
"When singers can enjoy challenging themselves
they become complete artists who are prepared for the adventure of
a professional career," says Alma.
