Eric Roberts

Born in North Wales, Eric graduated in Fine Art at Manchester
before winning a scholarship to study singing at the Royal
Manchester College of Music. His operatic debut was as Papageno
with Welsh National Opera, and he has since sung with all the major
British companies as well as in America, Canada, Australia and
Europe gaining an enviable reputation as one of Britain's leading
singing actors. His roles have included Dr Bartolo
(Barbiere), Don Magnifico (Cenerentola), Don
Alfonso (Cosi fan tutte), Figaro (Le Nozze di
Figaro), Dulcamara (L'Elisir), Faninal (Der
Rosenkavalier), Eugene Onegin (Eugene Onegin), Ned
Keene (Peter Grimes), Redburn (Billy Budd), Sir
Robert Cecil (Gloriana), Fieramosca (Benvenuto
Cellini), Trinity Moses (Mahagonny), Franke
(Fledermaus), Paolo (Boccanegra), Jack Point
(Yeomen of the Guard), Koko (Mikado),
Maj.Gen.Stanley (Pirates of Penzance), Henry Higgins
(My Fair Lady) and many others.
His one-man show "GG" based on the life of the Victorian
entertainer and author George Grossmith has been enjoyed on both
sides of the Atlantic.Eric's recording credits include PACIFIC
OVERTURES Sony, MIKADO Sony, PIRATES OF PENZANCE Sony, THE DUENNA
Chandos, as well as the Emmy award-winning film GLORIANA now
available as a DVD. His future plans include performing one of his
favourite roles - Dr Bartolo - with Welsh National Opera and Don
Magnifico in Cenerentola in New Zealand.
