Michael Pollock

Michael Pollock won a music scholarship to
Magdalen College Oxford, before going on to the Royal College of
Music to study vocal accompaniment with Roger Vignoles. In 2010 he
accompanied Dame Kiri Te Kanawa in recitals in France and Belgium,
having previously played for her on a Far East tour; he has also
accompanied Bryn Terfel in the UK, Norway, Asia, Australia, and at
the Amsterdam Concertgebouw. Michael has partnered singers
such as Dame Anne Evans, Rebecca Evans, Nuccia Focile, Katarina
Karnéus, Christopher Maltman, Anthony Michaels-Moore, Ailish Tynan
and Willard White. He acted as official accompanist for the
Cardiff Singer of the World competition on three occasions and has
made several CD recordings.
Following a long association with Welsh National Opera as both
repetiteur and vocal consultant he now coaches accompanists and
singers, including those at the Royal Welsh College of Music and
Drama, the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera
House, the Young Singers’ Programme at English National Opera, the
Royal College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music, where he
holds an Honorary Associateship. In July 2010 he gave two
weeks of masterclasses for singers and pianists at the North Sea
Vocal Academy in Denmark.
