Mary Dullea
Originally from Cork, Ireland, Mary Dullea studied at the Royal
College of Music in London with Yonty Solomon on the Edith Best
Scholarship. Much in demand as a soloist and chamber musician, she
has performed throughout Ireland, England, Europe, the USA, Hong
Kong and South Africa, appearing in festivals at Brighton,
Huddersfield, Corsham, Leeds Fuse, Sound Scotland and Aldeburgh as
well as Belfast Festival at Queens, West Cork Music, Reggello
International Festival (Italy) and National Arts Festival, South
Africa. She was the Irish pianist at EU 12 and 15 piano
extravaganza concerts in Paris, Brussels and Luxembourg.
A sought after interpreter of new music, Mary has made several
commissions and given many first performances especially as soloist
and notably with the Fidelio Trio. She has commissioned and
premiered works from composers as varied as Toshio Hosokawa, Edison
Denisov, Salvatore Sciarrino, Michael Nyman and Deirdre Gribbin.
Her many broadcasts include BBC Radio 3, Radio 4, RTHK Radio 4,
Lyric FM, FM3 and Irish, French and Italian television. Mary’s
expansive repertoire covers the standard piano literature as well
as an ever-increasing number of 20th and 21st century compositions,
many of which are dedicated to her.
