Phillipe Schartz
Philippe has developed a highly successful
career as an orchestral and chamber musician as well as a
soloist.
As Principal Trumpet of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the
Mahler Chamber Orchestra, and in his student days, the Gustav
Mahler Youth Orchestra, he has performed, to critical acclaim, with
conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Pierre Boulez and Bernard
Haitink. His solo career includes recitals and concertos all over
Europe as well as four solo CD recordings. In addition Philippe has
been broadcast on radio and TV stations including the BBC
and other European networks.
As well as teaching at RWCMD, Phillipe has travelled around
the world giving masterclasses and educational workshops including
at the Royal College of Music, Northwestern University of Chicago
and Queens University Belfast Music School.
