Owen Farr

Owen's involvement with brass music began when he joined
Pontypool Brass Band at the age of six and later joined Gwent
County Youth Brass Band and the National Youth Brass Band of Wales,
progressing to principal horn in both ensembles. In 1995 he became
the British Open Junior Solo Champion. Owen was later appointed
solo horn for Tredegar, before studying at the Royal Northern
College of Music. Six months later, he joined the world famous
Williams' Fairey Engineering Band.
Since moving back to Wales, Owen has joined the Cory
Band. He also formed Sonar Brass alongside Richard
Marshall, Alan Morrison, Nicholas Hudson and Shaun Crowther.
Owen is dedicated to improving the pedagogy of the Tenor Horn and
is constantly exploring ways of improving teaching methods. He
holds teaching positions at Birmingham Conservatoire and the Royal
Northern College of Music as well as RWCMD, and continues
to tour the country raising awareness of the Tenor Horn.
