Study Abroad Music

Instrumental, Vocal & Composition Tuition
Tuition on your principal instrument, voice or in composition,
forms the central component of the Programme. Lessons will take
place within high-class facilities and you will also enjoy full
access to our practice and rehearsal studios. As the only
all-Steinway Conservatory in the UK, we are able to offer pianists
the opportunity to become acquainted with instruments of
unparalleled quality, while others will benefit from the unique
sonic experience of being accompanied by instruments of the highest
professional standard. Singers also work with coaches and may
attend language, drama and movement classes.
Ensemble Training and Performance Opportunities
Opportunities here will be tailored in advance to address your
particular needs and aspirations. As a college, we champion the
importance of a musician’s ability to interact with other
performers, as reflected in our lively programme of chamber music
training and coaching. Our Jazz and Historical Performance pathways
provide particularly good illustrations of the importance we place
on students working in ensembles. Your period of study may coincide
with rehearsals and a performance by the RWCMD college chorus. If
so, you will be welcome to join, experience world-class choral
training and take part in the performance of a major work for
chorus and orchestra at Cardiff’s St David’s Hall.
Performance Classes, Masterclasses & Professional
Development
These are provided regularly across all disciplines and offer an
opportunity both to experience the work of fellow students and the
teaching of leading professionals. Your Programme will include
opportunities to attend and, where appropriate, participate. You
will also have the chance to develop a range of other music and
professional skills through practical musicianship classes, music
workshops, music pedagogy and music outreach projects.
