The Music Study Abroad Programme enables you to pursue a performance or composition discipline together with associated studies and activities from our well-established BMus (Hons) programme. This unique learning experience has been designed to benefit musicians training in one or more of the following areas:

• Solo Instrumental Performance
• Chamber Performance
• Orchestral Performance
• Vocal Performance
• Historical Performance
• Jazz
• Contemporary Music
• Composition (Acoustic and Electronic)

The Programme will allow you to develop your individual performance and creative skills through lessons with a distinguished tutor drawn from our team of instrumental, vocal or composition specialists. You will also have opportunities to benefit from a range of ensemble and interactive performance activities and a wide variety of supporting studies designed to enhance your musicianship and your professional development. Your abilities will develop quickly within a highly motivational and stimulating training environment specially designed to prepare you for the challenges ahead within your chosen area of the music industry.

The programme also includes an opportunity to attend performances and special events presented at RWCMD during your period of study, including concerts and recitals, plays, performance classes, masterclasses, guest lectures and workshops from leading speakers and distinguished visiting musicians. Supporting your training, the experience will be enriched by cultural visits to arts and other events both in Cardiff and in other cities nationwide.

Our Music Study Abroad Programmes are typically designed as a 12 week experience. The number of students accepted in each area of study will be comparatively small, as the programmes run alongside the undergraduate course and interface where possible with our wider portfolio of public performances.

Successful applicants will have instrumental, vocal or compositional skills appropriate to this level of training in order to benefit fully from the unique experience on offer.
