Acting Study Abroad (JYA) Programme

Throughout the Study Abroad programme you will receive training in movement skills, exploring physical approaches to the development of character and methods for safe, economical use of the body as well as basic dance techniques. In stage combat classes you will learn skills in fencing and unarmed combat. Vocal skills classes will teach you the essential techniques relating to speech, singing, accents, and the effective use of the voice.

Depending on the time of your study, you will be offered a range of projects focusing on the development of the specific skills required for Shakespeare, comedy, music theatre, physical theatre, film, TV, or radio.

Finally, you may be given the option to perform in one of over 15 productions staged each year, ranging from intimate contemporary pieces to large-scale Shakespeare and Broadway musicals. Our performances take place in the college’s own theatre spaces and in major professional theatres.
