Student Life

Young and ambitious - Cardiff, Europe's youngest Capital city is a contemporary, vibrant city which is full of life and future plans. With a long and fascinating history, Cardiff can be described as a truly cosmopolitan city.

Cardiff has a host of music and theatre venues including the Millennium Centre, St. David's Hall, Wales National Opera, Sherman Theatre, New Theatre, Chapter Theatre, Coal Exchange and much more; meaning that you will be spoilt for choice in your free time.

For sporting enthusiasts, there's the Millennium Stadium. This world class venue regularly hosts national and international games of rugby and football. The stadium also doubles as a concert venue during quieter times of the sporting calendar whilst Cardiff International Arena holds weekly concerts to suit any taste. Between the two venues they have seen some of the biggest names in showbiz such as Madonna, The Rolling Stones, U2, Gwen Stefani, Maroon 5 and many more.

Students' Union

As a student at RWCMD, you will benefit from being part of a friendly and supportive community. Whilst the courses are extremely demanding and you will be required to work long hours, we ensure that there are plenty of opportunities for you to unwind and socialise in a relaxed, informal environment.

Our hugely successful Students' Union plays a crucial role in the life of the college. The SU is housed in offices within the student common room and, together with the Head of Student Services, provides a central point of information and advice for students.

The SU also manages the college's bar, which is the main venue for a lively entertainments programme including a weekly quiz, regular live music nights and special events like the ever-popular Bavarian Night! During Fresher's Week there are daily events, which give new students plenty of opportunities to settle in and get to know one another.

The Students' Union plays a big part in ensuring the happiness and welfare of our students, offering information on anything from clubs and societies to dyslexia support and counselling.
